The
Issues: Health Care
Last legislative session representatives kicked over 100,000 people
off of their health insurance. Most of these individuals
were children, disabled and senior citizen members of the “Greatest
Generation.” Each one of these individuals suffered
massive setbacks in their most vulnerable times. All the while,
representatives in Jefferson City, including my opponent, made animal
sounds and gave “high fives” on the floor during debate
to signify predators going after their prey.
This kind of immaturity and arrogance simply added insult to injury
to those who can’t defend themselves. All together
there are over 800,000 residents in Missouri without health insurance.
By knowing friends and individuals that cannot afford health insurance,
despite working hard, this is an issue that is personal to me. I
believe this is an issue of urgency and one that needs to be addressed
immediately.
As your representative, I will always fight to protect
our most vulnerable and the hardworking Missourians in this state.
I will work to find new ways to provide more health care in Missouri.
One way I believe is to provide tax credits to small businesses
and others that provide living wage jobs and affordable health benefits
to their employees. The healthier our workforce and residents
are, the cleaner our communities are and the stronger our economy
becomes.
